Endal ignoring last year's Postal Strike!

Endal posting a letter

Just goes to show even at his senior years and with his usual dogged determination, the amazing Endal would not let the Postal strike stop him going about his daily business, for his owner Allen Parton, one of the patrons of the Labrador Rescue South East & Central.

He has also launched the Royal Mail Working Dogs Special Stamps in London by posting the very first letter bearing on of these special issue stamps!

Endal posting a letter

We are all really proud of "our Endal" as we like to think of him (I'm sure Allen won't mind!). It was great to see him enjoying himself meeting his "public" at the 11th Anniversary Party. Sadly he passed on age 13 but not before he retired and helped Allen's new pup EJ(Endal Junior) to start learning his job.

Lost dog Max

There is a link on the left to lost Labrador details.  They each have an individual page as unfortunately there are now quite a few, arranged in date order, the most recent ones at the top, so please go through all of them.  This problem seems to be on the increase so it is important to do all we can as dog owners to avoid this by taking the following precautions:-

  1. Micro-chip your dog, this can be done at most vets and will ensure that their details are held on a central computer, you could have your dog tattood as well as that is very visible.
  2. Lost dogs
  3. See that your dog has a collar with a disc,(a legal requirement)
giving your name, address, and phone number
  4. Take a good photograph of your dog and list any distinguishing marks.
  5. Have telephone numbers of Police,Vets,Rescue centers and your
    local Dog Warden.
  6. Check that your garden is secure.
  7. Go to this  Website for lost Dogs
Lost Rosie

This may not guarantee safety but at least you have done all you can to prevent this kind of loss.

Regarding Micro-chipping, Dog Theft Action (DTA)  presented its first microchip scanner to Labrador Rescue South East and Central (LRSEC) on Friday 29th September at the Kennel Club, Clarges St Piccadilly. Further more detailed news about this is on the Labrador Rescue SE & Central website.(Link on the left)

LRSEC Sponsor a Dog Scheme

Sponsored DogSponsored Dog

The LRSEC "Sponsor a Dog Scheme" was set up to help dogs in long term care due to a behavior or medical problem for which the rescue maintains ongoing responsibility.  Pictured here are just two of many!   Veterinary costs are probably the rescue's highest ongoing expense, but one they are committed to.   If you are able to make either a regular or one off donation this will help to ensure that all these dogs are cared for keeping them safe and healthy for the rest of their lives.

A full list of the Labradors that are in need of sponsorship and sponsorship forms can be found on the Labrador rescue website at the LRSEC website  (A link to this is also in the margin on the left).  If you would like to contribute anything towards any of the numerous Labradors that the rescue helps please contact  sponsor@loveyourlabrador.co.uk

Any contribution no matter how small, really helps and is much appreciated, whether it be a one off donation or a regular monthly payment. The rescue is always very busy, with dogs of all ages needing rehoming.   Many of the dogs settle well in their new homes, but people who are able to offer a special home to dogs which need extra love and understanding are always needed.  They may have a medical problem, need a kennel or maybe a home without stairs!

Helpers are always needed!

paying attention

Even if you are unable to offer a dog home, the rescue is always looking for helpers to visit dogs and homes, do follow ups, transport dogs, administration, etc.  Please don't hesitate to contact your nearest Area Co-ordinator if you would like to be involved. The list of co-ordinators is from the link to the Labrador Rescue South East & Central website in the margin on the left.
