On the Left is "Henry" who was our first Basset Hound, he was the Boss, of the hounds that is, and lived to a ripe old age of l6 a real character. On the Right is "Casey Jones", we called him "Jonsey" he had a wonderful nature and got on well with everyone. Henry was a real hunter, Jonsey was an ex show dog and had no interest in anything like that. He just loved to be admired and have his picture taken.
Below are all the Girls. First there is "Morag" who we got to keep Henry company and Basset Hounds as I said on my other page, do need company.

She kept Henry in order and if he did something he was not supposed to do she pulled his tail. He did'nt mind! She did not share his interest in hunting, she would rather sit outside the kitchen door, far less effort. On the Right are "Dolly and Clary", Morags two nieces, who arrived later. Dolly the tri color was very shy but Clary was the opposite. They were inseparable and spent the time either playfully bickering or Dolly would chew at Clary's ears until they became soggy and wet, she treated them like Chewing Gum!
Clary had the job of washing Henry's ears a daily ritual. When she had finished one, he would turn his head for her to do the other one!
On the Left is Polly a Labrador,Great Dane Cross, she came after the above dogs and there was a gap with the Basset Hounds for a while. She was in desparate need of a home so we took her in, she was quite a problem and we discovered she was a very sick dog.

Then came "Sally" pictured on the Right, she was our last Basset Hound and was all the other hounds rolled into one, she was wonderful with Children, other dogs, Cats and People. She was also a good Guard Dog and backed Anita up if she thought there was anyone
around who was not invited.
She had been gone for a couple of months when our then 5 year old grandson who loved her very much, said "I really miss Sally" and was silent for a full minute, deep in thought, then he said "She must be an Angel by now". The image of a Basset Hound with wings made us both smile and broke the sadness we both felt.
Finally Max my Labrador has a memorial page of his own as he was never really part of the pack, his loyalty was entirely to me.
